We can also do a combo trip which includes a day of trolling in the gulf stream as well as bottom fishing for Red and Gag Grouper, Snappers, Black Sea Bass and Triggers. * Please mention Combo if want to bottom fish if not the trip will be primarily be trolling for pelagic species only.
We start the day with Capt. Bob catching menhaden ,aka pogies, with a large cast net in the inter coastal waterway and then head to the ocean seeing the morning sunrise. Then we will take our freshly caught bait to catch the big fish, using 15 lb. and 20 lb. live bait stand up to catch the big fish, using 15 lb. and 20 lb. live bait stand up tackle. This is a great trip for the family or children. The morning trip gets you back at lunch and still gives you a chance to go hang out at the beach, take a swim, and prepare your freshly caught fish for a wonderful dinner, or if you want to sleep in and take the afternoon trip, it gives you a chance to catch the "afternoon bite" and watch the sun go down in the western sky!
The events of this trip are the same as the half day and can have the option doing some bottom fishing and still fish live baits on float rigs and if we have a breeze, will also deploy the kite to get the baits further away from the boat. You can also decide if you want to extend a half day morning trip into a full day as long as there is not a scheduled afternoon trip.
We start this day an hour early because we have a longer boat ride to get to the the warm and beautiful blue waters of the gulf stream. This day is spent trolling ballyhoo and lures on 25, 30, and 50 lb. stand up tackle. We usually start fishing in about 150 foot of water and troll to find temperature breaks and eddies or rip's that hold concentrations of bait fish. This is normally where we will catch Wahoo, Kings, Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Sailfish. You may even raise a Blue or White Marlin. If your desire is to have a chance at a Marlin we would typically troll offshore to deeper water and deploy larger baits or lures with 50 and 80 lb. tackle. With the combo trip we can also bottom fish to target Red and Gag Grouper, Snapper, Black Sea Bass, Beliners and Triggers. This is a long day of fishing and best suited for those that are truly up for a full day of fishing and adventure.
The 5 hour trip is $500 and the 8 hour is $800 plus tip. The in shore trip we fish the shallow back waters, marshes and creeks in Bogue Sound. We cast and troll hard and soft baits as well as fish with live bait for red drum, speckled trout and flounder.
